Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. pays U.S. consumers Tens-of-Millions to settle claims of price-fixing surcharges

The U.S. Federal District Court for the Central District of California announced that Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. settled charges of price-fixing fuel surcharges lodged by U.S. consumers.  Judge S. James Otero has ordered that the parties attend a hearing on March 25, 2013 to explain the settlement.

On behalf of Canadian consumers, Law Office of Andrew Morganti, JD, LL.M., Sutts Strosberg LLP, Harrison Pensa LLP, and Camp Fiorante are the co-lead counsel in the action pending against Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd., in Canada.  Plaintiffs retained Dr. Douglas West, University of Alberta, to serve as the consumers’ expert.  Dr. West earned his Ph.D. from University of Michigan and has provided expert testimony on behalf of the Canadian Competition Bureau.

During September 2011, Canadian plaintiffs served Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. with their amended statement of claim and expert report in support for certification.
